What we do

The HHL Center for Strategy and Scenario Planning creates knowledge and acts as a change agent to transform the way decision-makers think about and organizations plan their futures. We provide a platform to share ideas with leading scenario experts. Our main areas of activities are research, teaching, consulting and networking.




We advance scenario knowledge by

  • developing new methods and tools of strategic planning, especially scenario planning

  • researching the cognitive and behavioral effects of using scenarios in strategic decisions


We put theory into practice by

  • developing and publishing new scenarios in a broad range of areas

  • testing the new methods within applied research projects


We advise corporate, public and civic organizations by

  • setting up scenario planning structures and processes

  • developing scenarios and actions based on them

  • enriching strategy and non-strategy projects with our scenario know-how

  • initiating a qualified discussion of strategy based on scenarios or stakeholder surveys



We offer teaching in the area of scenario planning to

  • corporate managers and strategic planners in executive education seminars and workshops

  • doctoral students in summer seminars

  • MBa and MSc students at HHL in strategic management curricula


We provide a platform and act as a facilitator to

  • bring together scenario experts from all over the world

  • bridge the gap between theory and practice

  • share ideas on how the future will shape our world
